POLICE RELEASE GOODIS RANSOM TAPE
Area scientist, Andrew Goodis, whose dramatic abduction two weeks ago shocked this community, is believed to still be alive after the release today of a dramatic ransom video. The tape was discovered in an unmarked manila envelope in the editorial offices of The Voice Daily News and immediately turned over to authorities involved in the Goodis case.
This ransom tape is the first sign in two weeks that Mr. Goodis is alive after much confusion around his abduction. Goodis is known by friends and family as a loving father and husband and accomplished scientist without significant financial assets and no known enemies. Investigators are baffled by the $2M ransom demand given the family's financial situation.
"Andrew Goodis had a salary consistent with his position as a research chemist for a small to medium sized pharmaceutical firm," said Detective Roger Kinlan, the lead investigator on the case, "Neither his wife nor himself have the kind of money that kidnappers usually look for in a target."
In her fight to find her husband, Christina Goodis has arranged a $25,000 reward for her husband's safe return and has set up a website in hopes that the online community her husband was such a part of can help her. Their son, Max Goodis, has been assisting his mother with the website upkeep and design.
"We're going to be putting out a new message every day to those who are helping us find Andrew," Christina told the Voice Daily News, "Hopefully with everyone pitching in we'll be able to figure out why he was kidnapped and bring him home".
"I'm going to be filming the videos every day and posting them to our site" Max Goodis said at the press conference yesterday. "I make little movies all the time, but this one just has to have a happy ending. It has to."
Goodis is a well-respected member of the community and a highly regarded scientist at Akarm Pharmaceuticals. CEO and President of Akarm, Grant Tenbrook, has praised Goodis as a valuable member of the company, saying he was "instrumental in the development of Freevira, our revolutionary cold vaccine." Freevira is due to be released to the public on June 20, 2007.
Authorities are urging anyone who has any information about the Goodis kidnapping to please visit Christina Goodis' website www.savemyhusband.com.
