CELL PHONE EXPLOSION HURTS GIRL

DATE TBD

A 15-year-old girl who was admitted to the hospital Tuesday evening claims her cell phone apparently exploded while she was text messaging a friend.

Tara Canterson was typing into her cell phone when the device caught fire and burst in her hand. She was taken to the emergency room where she received treatment for second degree burns and minor lacerations.

Canterson's mother claims the phone was faulty and plans to explore possibilities for a lawsuit. "You never think that when you buy a cell phone for your child it might blow up in her hands. What if she had the phone to her ear when it exploded? It could have been a much worse situation," Mrs. Canterson said.

The cell phone manufacturer could not be reached for comment.
